during denny's vacation, mom had this idea of throwing a selametan for both denny & shinta's recent graduation. it also happened to be papa's bday that week, so they threw a surprise bday party for papa with the cover of the graduation's syukuran. of course it was a success surprise party since we never celebrated his birthday this grand before, too bad shinta wasn't there.

denny's first week in jakarta during his august 2003 vacation. spent sunday morning with mom & dad along with om ijal to senayan then breakfast at mayestik on one sunday morning.

last day of mom & dad's vacation in nyc. we took them to see the manhattan view from brooklyn, on the pier of the hudson river. too bad the weather was kinda foggy. from the bridge, we stopped by at the indonesian masjid in queens and met up with some of the masjid commitee.

different pictures from 4 different places. one last stop at tanger outlets in long island. a night out at times square. met up after shinta got off work, enjoying the famous gyros at rockefeller center. then a day at museum of natural history.

took a one day trip to newport, rhode island. this place is known for its beach, beautiful mansions, and seafood.

after my graduation, we took the trip down to the states south of new york. stopped by at philadelphia for its famous philly cheese steak *they are indeed really good*. then we stopped by in atlantic city for some 'gambling' action.. heheh.. too bad, the weather was really bad when we got to atlantic city, so we didn't get to go across the boardwalk. got to dc around midnight. in dc, walked around downtown and the mall. visited the white house and the smithsonian mall. there are 10 museums at the mall, but we only got to visit 1, the museum of natural history. it's a lot a day .. but it was hella fun..!

held place at radio city music hall in new york @ 4pm. shinta graduated for her MBA degree majoring in information systems. she graduated at the top 20% of her class and was invited to beta gamma sigma community - a prestige business society that belong to the best of the best graduates. we had a graduation dinner for both shinta & denny at NYONYA restaurant with the family and friends.

soho & chinatown is located in downtown of manhattan. mom & dad spent the day around the area. from the fish market in chinatown to along the hip stores in soho. denny took them to manhattan by train, then shinta met up with them after work.

>> herald square & macy's | may 2003 [view]

walk around in manhattan, particularly around herald square & macy's. this area is around shinta's work place, which is right across empire state building. walked around the blocks, took some picture of the empire state building, too bad mom didn't want to go all the way up. besides the long lines to go up, she was too scared of the heights, so she says.

day 2 - walked around the oldest state park in the united states, the niagara falls state park. it was very pretty with all the spring flowers just blooming with its rich colors. we took so many pictures during the visit that i have to divide them in two sections. enjoy!

day 1 - visited the world's largest falls, the niagara upstate. it took us 6 hours driving up there. it's the beginning of spring time, so the weather was still pretty cold, but nice. arrived late at night, the next day we took the tour around the american side of the falls. very pretty, such a world wonder.

"shopping time... " - so it's time to do some shopping. we went to woodbury premium outlets, about 2 hrs away from nyc. the day was rainy and foggy all day, but didn't stop us to do some shopping.. hehehh. some pictures are taken the next day when my mom, my bro and i went for late afternoon walk in continental ave, forest hills.

"one day visit to the past" - went up to providence, rhode island to visit my old 'hometown' along with mom, dad. it was just a day visit so we didn't really go around. highlight of the trip: eating mom's packed lunch in the park.

held place at continenal airlines arena in new jersey @ 10am. denny graduated for his bachelor of science's degree majoring in information systems and international business. he graduated with a cum laude.

>> denny's convocation ceremony | may 8, 2003 [view]

montclair state university's business school pre-commencement ceremony. denny received a dean's award for "outstanding service" from his faculty. this ceremony was held at montclair state university's auditorium @ 7pm.
